Have you bought a Steve Keene painting lately? I recommend collecting as many as possible. They’re obscenely cheap and kind of addictive. They make great gifts too. For example- I’ve been suckered into attending about five weddings this upcoming summer. Do I really want to give someone the bed sham or the blender that is listed on their Target/Bed, Bath, and Beyond wedding registry? Shit no! They’re going to get art whether they like it or not. They’ll thank me in the long run. And if not- they’re not my kinda peoples anyway.
I have a few Steve Keenes myself- including Marianne Faithful’s “Broken English” and Television’s “Marquee Moon.”
If you peruse his website you’ll find his studio is located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and is open on Sundays. I’ll be going soon to see and hopefully buy some of his other non-album related art. There’s plenty to go around.
